Nader leads the product design and development of the ZEMA Solution—the premier offering in enterprise data management software and services. Nader previously led ZE’s Applications Support, Managed and Hosted Services, and Corporate Infrastructure. Nader played a crucial role in bolstering the operations of ZE’s Client Services, using his impressive technology background to support ZE’s internal infrastructure and service improvement initiatives.

Nader was instrumental in the design and development of what is known today as the ZE Cloud, a hassle-free solution that provides clients with access to a dedicated, full-featured deployment of ZEMA that is hosted on ZE’s state-of-the-art private cloud. As Chief Product Officer, Nader is utilizing his previous experience supporting ZEMA to drive the large team of developers, QA analysts, business analysts, database specialists, and technology experts he now manages, all of whom work together to continually deliver enhancements to the ZEMA software suite for a better ZEMA user experience.

Aiman El-Ramly, MBA, CMC, Chief Business Officer, ZE PowerGroup has been an active member of the energy and commodities industries for 30 years. Aiman has significant understanding of what is needed for corporations to run effectively in complex global markets. ZE PowerGroup is the developer of the ZEMA™ enterprise software for data management and analytics. Aiman and his team have been recently expanding ZEMA’s capability to include advanced analytics and machine learning in resolving key industry challenges in trade, risk and operations. He is a frequent presenter, and market expert, in data and data analytics.

 

Aiman is also the Chief Operating Officer for ZE Power Engineering, ZE’s engineering design firm for utilities. Aiman holds an MBA from Royal Roads University and a BA in Psychology from the University of British Columbia.

Alice became deputy editor of the European benchmark gas publication ESGM in early 2019, overseeing a team of market reporters. Alice is responsible for developing the editorial direction of the publication, ensuring the data produced is in line with the ICIS methodology and representing the company at international events. Prior to this Alice worked as a senior reporter focusing on the Italian PSV market.

Michael O'Connell is the Chief Analytics Officer at TIBCO Software, where he manages the TIBCO Data Science team, a group of data science experts and practitioners. Michael works closely with his team to deliver an evolving set of AI apps and tech tools across a number of industries. These solutions span the worlds of science and engineering through customer and marketing analytics. Michael received his Ph.D. in Statistics at North Carolina State University. He has been working on statistical software applications for the past 30 years, and has published many statistics services, patents, and publications. His book, “A Picture is Worth a Thousand Tables,” is devoted to best practices in visual analytics, with a focus on data from life sciences.

Sebastian Rilling is an Analyst for EU Power & Carbon markets at ICIS. He first started working in the European carbon market in 2018, and joined ICIS in London in 2020.

Within the team, he is focussing on policy analysis, the EU ETS reforms, including the introduction of a Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, and industrial abatement. On a daily basis he quantifies market developments and discusses these developments with clients. Sebastian is following closely the political process around the EU’s “Fit for 55” package and its implications for the carbon market.

Sebastian holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany, and an Engineering diploma in Industrial Engineering from the Grenoble Institute of Technology (Grenoble INP) in France.

Ruth Liao is Americas editor for LNG at ICIS. Her news and analysis includes short-term commodity pricing and long-term project development that can be found in LNG Markets Daily, Global LNG Markets and on the market intelligence and analytics platform LNG Edge. Ruth covers project developments and market trends for North and South America on LNG and has analysed the increasing interconnection of global LNG markets, particularly between the US and Europe.

Ruth has spoken at conferences on LNG in Houston, Washington, DC and Shanghai. Ruth has been an editor with ICIS since 2010 and joined the LNG editorial team in 2011. Previously, Ruth was a journalist at a daily newspaper in Oregon.

Mr. Gordon S. Bennett has been Managing Director of Utility Markets at Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. since February 2015. Mr. Bennett is responsible for the sales and business development of ICE's European and Asian natural gas and power, together with its global environmental markets and coal portfolios.

Prior to ICE, Mr. Bennett spent 12 years at the global energy broker, Spectron, joining as Group Financial Controller in 2002. During his tenure at Spectron he held several Board roles including Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer. After the acquisition of Spectron by Marex in 2011 he joined the Executive Committee of Marex Spectron in the role of Managing Director and Global Head of Energy. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1999. He served as a Senior Manager in the Energy, Infrastructure and Utilities division of accounting firm Andersen holding responsibility for several large energy trading companies. He successfully launched the Andersen Spectron Energy Indices in 2001; the first audited, trade backed gas and power indices in Europe.

Mr. Bennett holds a Bachelor of Science Degree (with Honours) in Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh from 1990 to 1994.

Tim entered commodities in 2006, working for the strategy consulting practise of CRU Group. Since, he has worked in Price Reporting Agencies including start-up The Steel Index, Platts and Argus, where he specialised in financializing ferrous benchmarks: iron ore, coking coal, scrap and steel. He leads the Argus Hydrogen and Future Fuels service.

Ioannis Martinos is the CEO and Founder of Signal, a group of companies that combines commercial ship management with technological innovation aimed at enhancing performance across the shipping and commodities trading sectors. Signal Ocean, the group’s tech startup, has developed The Signal Ocean Platform, a B2B SaaS software, adopted by companies that control over 50% of the oil transportation capacity. Furthermore clients include some of the industry’s biggest players, like Exxon, Shell and Chevron.

Ioannis holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University and Aeronautical Engineering from MIT. The combination of technology and shipping skills enables Ioannis in his vision to bring Signal technology to power every commercial decision in shipping globally.

Juliet is the Head of Credit and Market Risk at BHP. She is accountable for the global management of all price, market and credit risk across BHP’s commodity sales and marketing activities and broader Commercial value chain. Juliet has diverse experience in commercial, finance and governance roles across Asia, Latin America and Australasia. This has seen her influencing risk and value outcomes at the edge of global change, from emerging market development to ESG imperatives. She has a passion for solving complex problems, aligned to BHP’s purpose of bringing people and resources together to build a better world.

Brian is Senior Vice President and Head of Americas Origination at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions. Brian oversees a Houston, Chicago and New York City based team specializing in climate, renewables, and electricity/natural gas risks. He is also CEO of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions' US based derivative carrier. He joined Swiss Re in 2012.

Brian has a BA in Political Science and Spanish from Amherst College, and an MBA from Emory University's Goizueta School of Business. Arthur is the Lead Freight Analyst for Vortexa based in London. Prior to this he was on the freight pricing desk at S&P Global Platts, covering dirty and clean tanker markets. Arthur holds a Foundation Diploma in Tanker Chartering from the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers as well as an MSc. in Energy Management from ESCP Europe Business School. On his spare time he sits on the board of the Shipping Professional Network of London, that aims to bring together young professionals from all aspects of the shipping industry to network, socialise and learn more about the industry they proudly form part of.

Mike is an accomplished senior executive, former solicitor and master mariner, with a wealth of operations leadership credentials gained from a varied career in the maritime sector, working with companies such as BP Shipping, Glencore’s ST Shipping, Maersk Tankers, Union Maritime and now StratumFive. With an established reputation as a subject matter expert Mike is often engaged as a conference speaker and facilitator providing commentary on industry developments and direction which adds significant value to his role as Strategy Director. Liveryman of the Honourable Company of Master Mariners, Fellow of the Nautical Institute and Supporting Member of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association.

Guy is Managing Director of Menteith Ltd, a new company that sources raw shipping and trading data for technology companies to power their AI and modelling capabilities. He set up the company in early 2020 to meet demand for data that provide insights into global trade and associated markets.

Guy has spent the majority of his 30-year shipping career on the commercial side of the shipping business both as Managing Director of a Singaporean shipbroking company and also working for a number of prominent oil tanker owners. As a result of nearly 20 years in Hong Kong and Singapore, Guy has particular insight into Far Eastern business. Upon returning to the UK in 2010, Guy worked in tanker chartering once again and developed an interest in the growing influence of data and technology which led him to set up Menteith Ltd.

Susan Nash has more than 20 years of experience launching and managing successful programs that support energy and economic development and innovation in local and global contexts, along with developing educational programs that develop skill sets and knowledge bases for agile, creative, and resilient individuals. She has developed programs to connect funding and commercialization sources with new services and technologies. To do so, she has utilized digital platforms for live and archived content for educational, networking, and market-building purposes.

Her shared vision is a world where individuals can have access to clean, affordable energy to provide safe and healthy homes for their loved ones and community members. In such a world, concrete and measurable changes are made to protect, preserve, and restore the environment and all those living in it. In that vision, we eradicate energy poverty in the world, and build stronger, safer networks for access to safe energy.

Andrea Valentini leads Argus' research and consulting on blue/green ammonia as well as carbon offsets. He has a background in fertilizers and agribusiness, and prior to joining Argus he was the head of consulting for Integer Research. He led consulting work on a number of projects, including feasibility studies for green hydrogen/ammonia, nitrogen, phosphates, and potash fertilizers, and specialty chemicals marketability research. He is a graduate in Economics from the University of Padua in Italy and holds an MBA from McGill University, Canada.

Ellis Ross is the BC Liberal Member of Legislature of British Columbia (MLA), for Skeena, and currently serves as the Official Opposition critic for Environment and Climate Change Strategy. Previously he served as Official Opposition critic for LNG and Resource Opportunities.

With a strong belief in collaboration, economic development, and clean energy sustainability, Ellis Ross led the team which brought the $40-billion-dollar Canada LNG project to British Columbia, delivering tens of thousands of jobs to BC and Canada. Ross has over 17 years of successful leadership as Councilor and Chief Councilor for the Haisla First Nation, and BC Liberal MLA for Skeena.

Canadian Business magazine named Ellis Ross one of its 50 most influential Canadians in 2012, and BC Business magazine named him to its Top 50 the same year. Ross has been a panelist and guest speaker at events organized by The Economist, the Conference Board of Canada, the BC Business Council, and dozens of national and international groups.

Ellis Ross was appointed by Premier Christy Clark as the founding Chair of the Aboriginal Business and Investment Council in 2012, in 2013 he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal, and in 2014 Ellis Ross received the Order of BC.

(ii) Renewable Fuels, which is developing robust supply chains across, solar, wind and batteries whilst innovating across Hydrogen, Syn Fuels, Methanol and Ammonia.

25 years’ experience in trading global commodities, previously managing a $4 Billion Commodities Portfolio. An accomplished asset manager, Damien has managed both fossil and renewable generation assets. Whilst he was the Head of Trading at Drax Power, the business transitioned from 100% coal to become a world leader in biomass production and biomass power generation. Prior to joining Javelin, he was Head of Markets Innovation at Orsted a world leader in renewables, where his team focussed on the emerging market opportunities in biogas, hydrogen and the wider opportunities across renewable fuels.

Martha holds a master’s degree in engineering from the University of Houston and more than 20 years of experience in the Energy value chain. Her roles have included capital investments evaluations, technical assessment, qualification of new technologies, leadership and P&L responsibility and strategy development. Passionate about climate change and sustainable future she took over the role of North America Segment Lead for low carbon. In that role, Martha focuses on the technical and commercial opportunities and challenges associated with the Hydrogen (green and blue) and Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS) value chain. She leads the team that supports business strategies for net-zero, decarbonization, and energy transition.

Mike Prokop is a Digital Transformation and Sustainability professional. He has more than 30 years of experience in the energy risk management industry and advises numerous energy companies, regulators, and government entities in the areas of operational risk, credit risk, and ESG. Mike is also the recently retired US Lead for Deloitte Advisory’s Blockchain and Digital Asset efforts which spans across 23 industries. In addition, Mike has extensive contact with energy regulators and has been a member of the CFTC’s Energy and Environmental Markets Advisory Committee for the last 12 years. He is also currently co-leading the Committee of Chief Risk Officers’s Working Groups on ESG and LNG Standards and Best Practices . Mike has also been a Senior Vice President with Merrill Lynch Commodities, a Managing Partner of the inter-dealer broker Amerex, and a Senior Managing Director at the CME Group where he led their Global energy asset class.

Caroline Gentry is an energy consultant with more than 20 years of experience in energy and environmental attribute market commentary. At price reporting agency Argus Media she was responsible for overseeing the launch of North American natural gas and US and European environmental market reports. Recent consulting projects include the development of a hydrogen pricing service for Argus Media, coordinating the launch of real-time renewable energy certificate initiative EnergyTag, and editing white papers for European electricity association Eurelectric. She recently completed an MBA at the University of Sussex Business School with a dissertation on government support mechanisms for hydrogen.

Alan Hayes is Global Head of Pricing for Energy Transition at Platts. He has almost 20 years of experience working for price reporting agencies much of which has been dedicated to building markets for new and expanding commodities across a wide range of energy and petrochemical markets. In his current role Alan, engages with market participants, governments and regulators to create markets for hydrogen, and other decarbonising commodities like low carbon crude, low carbon gas and guarantees of origin with the goal of developing market based pricing and market intelligence that can help to facilitate the energy transition to a low carbon economy. Alan’s academic background is in economics, and he holds a Master of Science from UCL in Environmental Economics and Natural Resource Management.

Mads Friis Jensen is an Entrepreneurial Technology to Market Maverick within the area of fuel cell and renewable energy systems, with a focus on the gap between business and technology. As Chief Commercial Officer and Co-founder of Blue World Technologies, his role is to bring fuel cell technology to global markets.

Mads is also a pioneer in methanol fuel cell mobility building several vehicles and vessels together with global OEM’s.

Juan Carlos Rodriguez - Oil Economist, was the Head of the FX & Commodities Desk at the Central Bank of Mexico where besides investing the reserves portfolio worth over $175 bn he led the execution of the world’s biggest oil hedging programme. He now works as an Oil Economist at OilX where his focus is on generating market research and combining fundamental and systematic trading strategies.

Mr. Wolak is the President and CEO of the Washington DC based Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy Association (FCHEA), an organization that represents over sixty leading international and domestic companies and organizations that are advancing innovative, clean, safe, and reliable energy technologies.

Prior to FCHEA, Mr. Wolak was a Senior Vice President at FuelCell Energy, Inc. (FCE). At FCE Mr. Wolak initiated and developed some of the most innovative and largest fuel cell technology applications in the world. In addition to his business successes, Mr. Wolak worked closely with the US Department of Energy, Congress and state agencies to define and sustain programs for hydrogen and fuel cells throughout the US.

Trevor Brown is an independent ammonia industry consultant and analyst with a focus on commercializing sustainable energy technologies. He has expertise in startegy and business development, market research nad analysis, corporate communications, and sustainability. Trevor is the current executive director of the New York City based Ammonia Energy Association.

In 2013, he established AmmoniaIndustry.com, a website that provides data, news, and analysis, which initially focused on the capacity expansions taking place in North America and now also tracks the industry’s transition to sustainable technologies. In 2016, he launched AmmoniaEnergy.org, the global information portal for ammonia as an energy vector.

From 2011 to 2013, he was VP Strategy for a start-up that aimed to develop an electrochemical process for renewable ammonia synthesis. Since 2012, he has been on the Board of Directors of the NH3 Fuel Association, which promotes the use of carbon-free ammonia in energy applications. He organizes the association’s annual conference and coordinates international research and development projects. In 2016, he launched ammoniaenergy.org, as publisher and co-editor, establishing a global information portal for ammonia as an energy vector.

A commodities and FinTech specialist with 16 years in the markets and a proven track record creating and growing innovative businesses with technical edge. Led the sale of Munich based tech startup MVS, achieving full exit to Platts in 2015. Having committed to S&P Global Platts post acquisition, now responsible for a portfolio of commercial projects. Speaks at commodities conferences presenting macro and fundamental market analyses of market evolution. James leads the Platts Innovation centre which specialises in deploying applied blockchain, machine learning and big data.

Sarath Srinivasan is the Head of Risk Transfer Products at kWh Analytics. With over 15 years of experience, Sarath has spent the last 10 years in energy finance focused on renewable energy with extensive experience across asset acquisitions, capital markets and project finance, closing over $3 billion in transactions. Prior to joining kWh Analytics, Sarath managed the solar business unit at Gardner Capital, where he was instrumental in driving strategy, building the team and in raising development capital, tax equity and debt. Before joining Gardner Capital, Sarath worked on the project finance team at SunEdison focused on C&I solar project finance and on the Power and Utilities investment banking team at Barclays.

Sarath received a B. Tech degree from the Indian Institute of Technology - Madras and an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology - Sloan School of Management. He is from Chennai, India.

In March 2019, Owain joined CME Group as managing director, global head of research and product development. He was previously a CME managing director, Energy Research and Product Development. Before joining CME, Owain worked for over four years as a managing director of the Dubai Mercantile Exchange in their Energy Research and Product Development group. Owain received his bachelor's degree from the University of Cambridge and is the author of numerous articles as well as the book "The Price Reporters: A Guide to PRAs and Commodity Benchmarks.
